<<<<<< MANAUS TO ALEXANDRIA

TAPOSIRIS MAGNA, EGYPT - ROYAL BLOODLINE FUSION

The ceremony was a spectacle of opulence and intrigue, a blend of ancient Egyptian rituals and modern technology. The sterile rock chamber, once a preparation room, was transformed into a breathtaking tableau.

Egyptian murals, digitally projected onto the walls, depicted scenes from Cleopatra's life – her triumphs, her loves, her legendary beauty. Incense, a blend of myrrh and frankincense, filled the air, evoking the scent of ancient temples. A team of Egyptologists, led by the fervent Safiya Sabuka, meticulously recreated the ambiance of an ancient Egyptian court.

Cleopatra, adorned in a shimmering gown of gold and lapis lazuli, sat enthroned on a replica of the famed Cleopatra's Needle, a gift from the Baron. Her emerald eyes, reflecting the flickering flames of a thousand candles, surveyed the assembled guests, themselves suitably robed. Scientific experts and a Egyptologists, all captivated by the spectacle, watched with bated breath.

Panama dutifully stood guard.

The Baron, resplendent in a custom-made suit of shimmering black and crimson, with gold trim, stood before her, his eyes gleaming with ambition. Safiya, her face alight with a fanatic's zeal, intoned ancient Egyptian prayers, her voice echoing through the chamber.

"By the grace of the Nile," she declared, "and by the will of the gods, we witness the union of two powerful bloodlines."

As Safiya spoke, a holographic projection of the ancient Egyptian sky, complete with the constellations, shimmered above them. The air crackled with a strange energy, a palpable sense of anticipation.

All was ready once more.

The Baron again climbed steps to the Altar, moving over his submissive bride. He opened his robes and lowered himself.

Then it was, right at the moment leading to penetrative union, that Panama heard a rock clacking along one of the corridors leading to the makeshift ceremonial chamber. He sounded an alert, cautioning the Baron against completion of the would be divine copulation, until he could give the all clear.

The Baron cursed, holding back for all he was worth. "Schnell, schnell." Yelled the Baron to Panama.

The incantations ceased abruptly. The Baron poised for action, but now less able to perform.

Fortunately, for Cleopatra, the all clear did not come ... 

BLACK OPS

Jack Mason and his black op team followed John Storm into the ruins of the Taposiris Magna temple. Storm signaled Mason to hold, while he used his heightened sense of sound and smell to guide him.

He could detect a feint mixture of exotic aromas and incense coming from somewhere. There where also sounds coming from somewhere below. But no light to show the way. As he strained to identify the direction of the sounds, his nose caught a stronger whiff of incense. He waved his head from side to side, following the flow of stronger currents, like a bloodhound chasing a scent.

He almost tumbled down sandstone steps, unseen in aerial reconnaissance pictures, but real enough. Reversing back out to signal Jack to close in a little on the discovery. Jack duly darted forward, followed by four CIA operatives dressed all in black, with black balaclavas, webbed belts and machine guns. The men stopped at the entrance, awaiting further instructions.

John signaled he was going in. He crept down the steps cautiously into darkness, trusting his sense of smell, that told him he was getting closer. Then when rounding a bend, he saw a flickering light ahead. The chanting was louder, and spoken words could just be heard, when he struck a rock, making quite a bit of noise.

The chanting stopped, followed by rustling from clothing and softly scurrying footsteps. Then there was silence, beckoning John to move in. He did so, moving like a cat, for another twenty meters. The light grew stronger as he passed through a doorway, into a large chamber.

There, not more than 10 meters ahead, lay a woman John assumed must be a sacrifice. Since there were Pagan and other Satanic symbols all around the chamber, including banners with swastikas. All of this was set against a backdrop of Egyptian hieroglyphs, and tomb like paintings, depicting what he thought might be Horus, Anubis and Isis, with servants providing assistance to the Gods in exquisite relief's.

Then he appreciated that the woman was wearing a golden necklace and other jewelry, belonging to royalty. The woman's hair was jet black, long and braided with gold hair bands. This was unmistakably the reincarnation of the Egyptian queen Cleopatra. Shivers went down his spine. There before him, spread-eagled, and scantily clad, was what appeared to be the Pharaoh queen reborn. Somehow, he sensed he'd been here before, but knew this was new territory. So, impossible.

The shadows revealed the woman's heaving breasts, though fortunately, her virtue seemed intact. John froze. Those making the chanting sounds were nowhere in sight. He realised he'd interrupted proceedings, whatever they were. He looked around. Shadows danced against the walls of the chamber, lit from four free standing chalices around a meter in height, with semicircular dishes filled with hot oil. Smoke from the flames of the ceremonial torches filled the air, adding an eerie quality to the emptiness, and now silent vault.

Cleopatra was bound by the wrists and ankles, restrained from movement by ceremonial silk ties. Clearly, she was in a comatose state of her own making, such that she could not have fully understood where she was and what was happening to her. Nor could she communicate, save for tears and emotional gasps, as an indication of trembling, apparently triggered by the sight and then pheromones, of John Storm.

John's heart leaped as he subconsciously registered the queens scent. His pulse quickened. He wanted to rush forward and cut her free.

Then from different directions Musa, Klaus and Rudolf Kessler, rushed him, coming out of the shadows, with the Baron Richthofen coming in from behind. Normally, John would have been overpowered by such numbers. But with his new reflexes and incredible strength, he easily picked up Klaus Kolreuter, throwing him into a corner.

"Klaus! Is that you?

Klaus groaned in pain, somewhat bruised.

"Don't hurt that man," John shouted to Jack. "There's more to this, I think."

Then he caught Musa by his arm, breaking it over his shoulder with an audible crack. Rudolf came in from the front to punch John and kick him in the groin. The punch landed square on John's jaw, turning his head sideways. The kick missed as John sidestepped, whirling round to elbow Rudolf in the neck. When he went down writhing in agony.

"What are you," yelled the Baron, witnessing this incredible show of strength.

The Baron stepped forward. John squared up to him. The Baron was skilled in self defence and had a few martial arts tricks up his sleeve. He launched a powerful attack, despite being robed, fists flying and legs kicking, catching John with a chop to his neck. John grasped the Baron by his ceremonial belt and collar, lifting him bodily into the air, then rammed him down on the deck, back first, wrestling style.

The Baron was winded. But managed to shout, "Panama."

Enter Panama, who was waiting to see if the Baron would win out. Panama rushed in to protect the Baron, where it was clear to the clone that John had more than human strength and reflexes. How, the German replicant did not know. But he did. John and Panama dived into each other, meeting with a solid thud, muscle on muscle. Bone on bone. They began pounding it out. Blow after blow.

Then Jack and his black ops rushed into the chamber, to witness the two men moving at incredible speed. The onlookers could hardly keep up with the action.

Jack pulled out his sidearm and shot Panama in the leg. This hardly phased Panama. Who looked at Jack with defiant eyes that said so.

"Is that your best shot?" sneered the replicant.

"Not really," replied Jack, shooting Panama in the shoulder. 

When John managed the punch of his life, hitting Panama square under the jaw, lifting him bodily into the air and backwards. As Panama landed with a thud, three of the black op agents pounced to hold the injured replicant down as the fourth agent cuffed him.

"Good teamwork, thanks." said John, "I was being mullered."

"I know this guy," said one of the agents. "This is the Panamanian runner."

"That so," replied John. Still regaining his breath.

"Panamanian Running Man," corrected Panama in mock indignation.

The agents all looked at each other, and to John, and back.

"He's right," said Jack, sporting a wry grin.

John looked around at the decimated cult members, but the Baron was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh f ...!"

"Quick men, the ringleader has legged it."

Jack and two of the agents swiftly searched the chamber with torches, then each went along different corridors, in rapid pursuit. The other two held Panama down, who was making as if to fight again.

One of the black op agents warned him, "don't make us shoot you again."

John said, "try not to kill him. He is something special. DNA might even be patent-able."

Panama subsided again. Knowing they would seriously wound, or kill him. And he was in quite a bit of pain already. Super enhanced or not.

John rushed back to the altar. He untied the half-naked woman, leaning her forward and covering her up with his jacket.

She looked at John with puzzled eyes. "It's okay, you are safe now," he said.

"I know I am," said the beautiful young Egyptian Goddess, throwing her arms around John, tears of joy streaming down her face.

This man was more what she was hoping for.

"Can you walk?"

Cleopatra tried to get to her feet, but was weak from the intoxicants she'd imbibed, and stumbled. John picked her up effortlessly and carried her outside to where Dan was waiting with transport, a Hummer, on loan from the United Nations.
