Before now Cleopatra's tomb has lain undisturbed, since her palace near Alexandria sunk into the Mediterranean Sea. Thonis-Heracleion was Egypt’s greatest port for much of the first millennium B.C.E. before Alexander the Great established the metropolis Alexandria in 331 B.C.E. It is unclear how and exactly why the city sank into the sea (some time in the first millennium C.E.), but the discoveries at Egypt’s primary customs port have been significant.
Thonis-Heracleion, rested at the bottom of the sea lost for 1300 years. The Egyptian city was the main port of entry to the Mediterranean Sea between the 8th century BCE and the 4th century BCE. Sometime in the 8th century CE, the city sank into the sea and eventually became a distant memory.
John Storm is the protagonist and main character in this 'Cleopatra - The Mummy Reborn adventure. Unlike conventional comic book super-heroes, the science behind his enhancement is based on real technology. The picture above represents John facially, but not the spandex suit. Which would be more naval flight suit, with a captain hat of sorts.
John is around 40 something during this present series. He keeps himself fit by swimming and diving. And sometimes, though not so often; rock climbing. He has a love of water and the sea.
When younger, he was very keen on sports diving and climbing mountains. His current interests center around conservation of species and renewable energy, such as solar and hydrogen powered transport.
He is also an amateur anthropologist and a practical engineer, but he'd never let on - except when marveling at the technology built into the Elizabeth Swann. John loves this ship, and Hal the onboard AI.
He is almost obsessed with his DNA collection, all stored in The Ark, onboard the Swann. He has been collecting samples since 13 years of age.
John (sometimes Johnny to his very close friends) likes a challenge and gets the job done. He loves the challenges nature can throw against him, man versus the sea, tropical revolving storms and giant waves. Storm by name, storm by nature.
John's father left to fight in a European war, and did not return. His mother did not cope well with that. She was a musician when younger, her family spread about the globe. She arranged for John's needs as he matured, encouraging contact with his uncle in London and Australia, as she faded from his life, absorbed by religious beliefs, alien to John's science based deductions.
His uncle was Professor Douglas Storm. John's uncle supported him in his ambitions and taught him a great deal, helping to prepare his nephew for the unexpected. Just the training he needed for meeting up with Cleopatra, a Greek/Egyptian character that had fascinated him all through his childhood. To the point where she had invaded his dreams.
When John finally meets the reborn queen of Egypt, he is powerfully attracted to her. He cannot escape the feeling that he has been here before; been with her before. Crazy as that may seem. John does not know that his DNA goes back to Queen Julia of Mauretania, a sibling of Mark Antony and Cleopatra VII, via King Juba II. Thus is distantly related.
This goes some way to explaining his quest to build the Ark, the world's largest interactive DNA database. Dan and Hal suspect that John is related to Mark Antony, curious as they were to seeing their Skipper interact most uncharacteristically with the reincarnated Queen of the Nile.
John is a friend to UNESCO (Hague Convention on Protecting Cutural Property) and Blue Shield International, being concerned as to the increasing number of antiquity thefts, with profits from sales going to fund terrorism and lavish lifestyles.
He has worked with Doctor Roberta Treadstone, Newcastle University, who in turn reports to Professor Jacques Pierre Daccord, stationed in Paris. Roberta is an associate of Charley Temple. All three revere John for his capabilities and command of the Swann.
His previous 'innerspace' adventure was saving the giant humpback whale 'Kulo Luna.' John and the humpback are now friends for life.
During this adventure, from the Amazon to Alexandria, John finds and adopts some of the technology developed by the Baron Richthofen's group that is funded by Nazi gold and other stolen treasures from World War Two. Giving him what appears to others to be super powers. But in reality, is just enhancing tech, which he hopes will help him to take on even greater challenges, in the process, reducing the dangers to his person, as an ocean advocate.
VIBRANT LAYERED CHARACTER
For
the graphic novels, John Storm
is described as a vibrant, layered character. His adventurous spirit stems from a deep connection to the oceans, inherited along with the Elizabeth Swann from his uncle, Professor Douglas Storm. This legacy fuels his dedication to marine conservation, making him a relentless and passionate figure in his quest to protect marine life.

JOHN STORM is captain of the Elizabeth Swann, a solar and hydrogen powered craft, that he likes race occasionally. The Elizabeth Swann is not only swift, but superbly equipped for scientific and ocean conservation tasks, such as archaeological surveys. The vessel also houses John's prized DNA archive, called The Ark, a useful reference tool.

DANGERMAN - No stranger to subsea rescues, John rescued Kulo Luna from certain death after the humpback whale became helplessly trapped in discarded fishing gear, her wound tainting the water with blood - as a calling card to all sharks in her location. When he is called to investigate suspected looting of an archaeological site in the Mediterranean, he is more than keen to help.
