The
cure for cancer is the Holy
Grail of medical achievement, a Crusade
that is within our grasp.
The
Novus
Illuminatum (Newly Enlightened, or New Illuminati) in this short story, are a group of societal
reformers, following on from the ideals of the Bavarian Illuminati, founded
in May of 1776 by Adam Weishaupt.
The
modern day scientists, who are members of this Secret Society, share a
vision of a world without disease, seeking the cure for cancer, poverty and
political extremists, who still promote nuclear energy as being safe, in
denial of alternatives. And, they don't care much how they achieve their
aims. Though, keep their membership restricted, and protected from
disclosure.
In
this original John Storm spy thriller, a number of Novus Illuminatum members
secure Horizon Europe funding in the quest to find a cure for cancer,
against mounting healthcare costs, with contributions from NATO, looking to
fortify soldiers and protect their investment in training.
They
have heard of John Storm, because of the DNA archive aboard his ship;
Elizabeth Swann. And the media coverage of his anthropological collecting in
Tanzania and South Africa. The archive is called the Ark. John Storm makes
no secret of his hobby, and the system developed by his genius uncle,
Douglas Storm, who perfected a method where stored DNA data is reversible, and may be mixed
and matched, using a special digital biological interface. By which means,
life may be recreated from the encoded samples, and enhanced.
Novus
Illuminatum realise that with suitable super computing power,
DNA may be
routinely genetically
modified using CRISPR viruses, that allows the DNA of grown subjects to be modified, rather than cloning or
replicating afresh. They calculate that with the correct equipment and
suitable funding, they might resurrect a long dead subject from their DNA.
The reveal this information as part of the Horizon Europe funding
application - that is seen by Musket Meloni.
The
group try to hack into the Ark to copy the database, but cannot get past the
advanced firewall, thanks to Hal's vigilance.
The definition of "secret" generally
relies on the degree to which the organization insists on secrecy, and might involve the retention and transmission of secret knowledge, the denial of membership or knowledge of the group, the creation of personal bonds between members of the organization, and the use of secret rites or rituals which solidify members of the group.
Because some secret societies have political aims, they are illegal in several countries. Italy (Constitution of Italy, Section 2, Articles 13–28) and Poland, for example, bans secret political parties and political organizations in their constitutions.
Other UK countries, namely the UK, actively endorse the Masons, being
integrated into their judicial system. Introducing a layer of
unfavourable treatments, for those not in the fold. Novus Illuminatum
operates against this background. Fully aware that their activities
might not meet with the approval of other scientists or laws. Especially
relating to human experimentation, cloning, and even DNA enhancements.

THE
ILLUMINATI
Bavarian secret society founded in 1776, organized like the Freemasons. new order was Bund der Perfektibilisten, or Covenant of Perfectibility (Perfectibilists); he later changed it because it sounded too strange. On 1 May 1776, Weishaupt and four students formed the Perfectibilists, taking the Owl of Minerva as their symbol. The members were to use aliases within the society. Weishaupt became Spartacus. Law students Massenhausen, Bauhof, Merz and Sutor became respectively Ajax, Agathon, Tiberius and Erasmus Roterodamus. Weishaupt later expelled Sutor for indolence. In April 1778, the order became the Illuminatenorden, or Order of Illuminati, after Weishaupt had seriously contemplated the name Bee order.
AGE OF ENLIGHTENMENT
The Age of Enlightenment or the Enlightenment, also known as the Age of Reason, was an intellectual and philosophical movement that occurred in Europe, especially Western Europe, in the 17th and 18th centuries, with global influences and effects. The Enlightenment included a range of ideas centered on the value of human happiness, the pursuit of knowledge obtained by means of reason and the evidence of the senses, and ideals such as natural law, liberty, progress, toleration, fraternity, constitutional government, and separation of church and state.
The Enlightenment was preceded by the Scientific Revolution and the work of Francis Bacon and John Locke, among others. Some date the beginning of the Enlightenment to the publication of René Descartes' Discourse on the Method in 1637, featuring his famous dictum, Cogito, ergo sum ("I think, therefore I am").
NEW WORLD ORDER
The New World Order (NWO) is a conspiracy theory that hypothesizes a secretly emerging totalitarian world government. The common theme in conspiracy theories about a New World Order is that a secretive power elite with a globalist agenda is conspiring to eventually achieve world domination and rule the world through an authoritarian one-world government—which will replace sovereign nation-states—and an all-encompassing propaganda whose ideology hails the establishment of the New World Order as the culmination of history's progress. Many influential historical and contemporary figures have therefore been alleged to be part of a cabal that operates through many front organizations to orchestrate significant political and financial events, ranging from causing systemic crises to pushing through controversial policies, at both national and international levels, as steps in an ongoing plot to achieve world domination.
Before the early 1990s, New World Order conspiracism was limited to two American countercultures, primarily the militantly anti-government right, and secondarily the part of fundamentalist Christianity concerned with the eschatological end-time emergence of the Antichrist.
