Husani Hassan was elected fairly as an intellectual rising from academia, with astonishing achievement in the field of business, history and administration, after a string of Egyptian politicians from military backgrounds had failed to deliver economic reforms and stability to his country.
He was born and raised in Cairo, but educated in Europe and the US.
He is proud of his royal ancestors, and keen to both conserve and promote Egyptian tourism, based on the river Nile, Giza necropolis and the dozens of historic sites of major international importance, many of which are protected, and many of which have yet to be discovered and catalogued. He is also an ardent admirer of the Pharaohs. Their organizational ability and Queen Cleopatra for her dominance in a world typically ruled by powerful men. Hassan is a human rights advocate, in the tradition of the Pharaohs.
